for technology startup
designed to be an open environment to encourage interaction and facilitate cross-pollination of disciplines and ideas
large glass roll-up door will replace existing warehouse door leading onto a new "parklet" cafe will provide natural light, ventilation, and flexible indoor/outdoor work spaces. we utilized parametric design software and digital CNC fabrication to create a floating ceiling over the cafe. each individual plywood fin is slightly different, and the ceiling creates a wave pattern anchored by the points of light. as you move around the ceiling, the form changes from solid to opaque.
The ceiling was designed , fabricated, and installed by our design/build team in order to meet an extremely tight move-in schedule.
